Recap: Los Angeles vs. Edmonton

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tanner Pearson registered two goals and one assist as the Los Angeles Kings continued their mastery of the Edmonton Oilers with a 6-1 rout at Staples Center.

Pearson's linemates, Jeff Carter and Tyler Toffoli, both had a goal with an assist in Darryl Sutter's 100th regular-season win as head coach of the Kings.

Justin Williams and Dustin Brown added goals for the Kings, who posted their seventh straight win over the Oilers. Jonathan Quick came within 21 seconds of a shutout, making 31 saves.

Viktor Fasth got the start in net for Edmonton and left with a groin injury in the first period after allowing three goals on 11 shots. Ex-King Ben Scrivens stopped 12-of-15 shots in relief.

Matt Hendricks prevented the shutout for Edmonton, which has opened with three straight losses for the first time since dropping its first four games in 1995-96.

Carter opened the scoring at 3:06 of the first period when he one-timed home a feed from Toffoli. The goal came after the Oilers failed to advance the puck along the boards.

Williams lit the lamp 1:15 later, beating Fasth to the far side from the right circle.

"I thought we came out cautious, had some bad luck during the game, but it just goes to reconfirm that every moment in the game is an important one," said Edmonton head coach Dallas Eakins.

Toffoli potted a short-handed goal just before the game's 10-minute mark. After he dangled the puck around defenseman Brad Hunt, Toffoli fired a wrister high over Fasth's right shoulder.

"We got up early and we didn't take our foot of the pedal, we kept going," Quick said.

Brown and Pearson scored 25 seconds apart in the second period. Brown went to the crease and batted in Dwight King's saucer pass at 5:04. Pearson scored after his forecheck created a turnover in the Edmonton zone.

Pearson added a power-play goal in the third period.
