Recap: Philadelphia vs. Florida

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Steve Mason stopped 34 shots and four different Philadelphia players lit the lamp as the Flyers claimed a 4-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Thursday.

Sean Couturier, Michael Del Zotto, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Jakub Voracek tallied while Brayden Schenn posted two assists for the Flyers, who have won two in a row to begin their four-game homestand.

Nick Bjugstad provided the sole marker for the Panthers, who had beaten Philadelphia at home, 2-1, on Saturday. Roberto Luongo made 26 saves in defeat.

Philadelphia seized control of the contest with a pair of goals 2:45 apart early in the first period.

Matt Read threaded the needle from the left-wing boards for a shot by Schenn that was tipped home by Couturier at 3:53. Del Zotto recorded his first goal in Orange and Black at 6:38 with a wrister from a sharp angle in the left circle.

"It's huge to come out quick and get that two-goal cushion," Mason said. "When you can get out to a quick start like that, it definitely makes thing more relaxed and gives you a sense of confidence out there."

Bellemare ripped a puck past Luongo from the high slot for a 3-0 Flyers edge with 2:50 elapsed in the second period.

Florida got rolling on a power play with 8:10 left in the second, as Jimmy Hayes backhanded a rolling puck which Mason kicked out, but right to Bjugstad for an open-net score.

The visitors poured 17 shots on goal in the middle frame but couldn't pull closer.

Voracek restored the hosts' three-goal edge only 39 seconds later, finishing off a 2-on-1 by tapping in a pass from Claude Giroux on the left wing.

"You score and kind of get back into a game, and they answer right back," Panthers center Rocco Grimaldi said. "Their crowd jumped back to life. It's a tough thing, but something we've got to bounce back from."

Mason finished with 12 stops in the final 20 minutes.
