Recap: Florida vs. Columbus
Sunrise, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Johansen scored the lone goal of the shootout to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
Johansen skated in slowly on Roberto Luongo and nonchalantly snapped a shot past the Panthers netminder to give the Blue Jackets their 10th straight win in the series.
"I definitely think we stole two points tonight," Johansen said.
Sergei Bobrovsky was stellar in net for Columbus, turning aside 52 shots and making a highlight-reel glove save on Nick Bjugstad in the fourth and final round of the shootout.
Cam Atkinson tallied a goal with an assist, while Nick Foligno and Boone Jenner also scored for the Blue Jackets.
The Panthers tied a franchise record with 55 shots on goal.
Bjugstad notched two goals and an assist and Tomas Fleischmann added a goal with an assist. Luongo made 17 stops in the setback.
"The first period we didn't come out like we wanted to," said Bjugstad. "Everybody kind of bought in there in the final two periods."
After a sluggish first period, Florida made some adjustments and dominated the rest of regulation to erase a three-goal deficit, outshooting its opponent 38-7 over the second and third periods.
Fleischmann got the Panthers on the board with a goal just over two minutes after Columbus went up three, then Bjugstad slipped a backhand under the pads of Bobrovsky to cut the deficit to 3-2 with 14:56 remaining in the second.
Bjugstad then tied the game 2 1/2 minutes later on the power play when he beat Bobrovsky from a tight angle in the corner.
Bobrovsky made a dazzling save on Shawn Thornton early in the third, as he sprawled out to rob the latter off a rebound chance out in front to keep the game tied.
Columbus opened the scoring 1:07 into the contest as Foligno grabbed a loose puck to the left of Luongo, wrapped around the crease and sent a backhander into the net for a 1-0 lead.
The Blue Jackets added another midway through the opening period when Atkinson raced to the puck from his own blue line, skated in on a breakaway and finished by snapping a shot past Luongo.
Florida turned the puck over in its own zone early in the second, Kerby Rychel picked up the puck at the left circle, spun around and threw a shot on net. Luongo made the initial save, but Jenner was there to send the rebound home for a 3-0 lead.Game Notes
