Recap: Ottawa vs. Winnipeg

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Matthew Perreault scored in the sixth round of the shootout to lift the Winnipeg Jets to a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

After Colin Greening's backhander was stopped in tight by Ondrej Pavelec, Perreault, the 12th and final shooter, skated slowly up the slot and wristed a shot past Craig Anderson on the blocker side for the win.

"I think my last shift in overtime I blocked a shot with my stick and it was cracked, but I didn't know," said Perreault. "If I shot it hard, I knew it would snap. So I went in there and tried to put it in the corner."

Tobias Enstrom scored Winnipeg's lone goal in regulation and Pavelec made 37 saves for the Jets, who bounced back from a 4-3 shootout loss to Pittsburgh on Thursday.

The Jets have registered at least a point eight straight games (6-0-2) and have not lost in regulation since a 4-2 loss to Tampa Bay on Oct. 24.

Chris Neil tallied a power-play goal and Anderson turned aside 36 shots for Ottawa, which had a two-game winning streak come to an end.

"I thought it was a very competitive game," Senators head coach Paul MacLean said. "I thought both teams played hard, but at the end of the day, they were a little better in the shootout."

The Senators opened the scoring on the power play with 8:12 to play in the first period. Mika Zibanejad raced up the ice through the slot and dropped a pass back to Neil, who wristed a shot past Pavelec.

Enstrom skated across the blue line and fired a shot off the pipe and into the net for a tied game with 2:11 left in the opening stanza.

Ottawa outshot Winnipeg, 12-10, in the second, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.

Eric Gryba rang a shot off the crossbar with just over five minutes left in the third and the Senators generated more scoring chances in the final minutes of the third on Mark Stuart's tripping penalty at 14:42, but the Jets killed it off to force overtime.

Game Notes

Ottawa forwards Bobby Ryan and Alex Chiasson and defenseman Chris Phillips were all scratched from the lineup ... Ottawa won the previous three games in the series ... Both teams finished 1-for-2 on the power play.
