Recap: Edmonton vs. Chicago

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Jonathan Toews scored twice and Marian Hossa added a goal and three assists as the Chicago Blackhawks crushed the Edmonton Oilers, 7-1.

Patrick Kane and Kris Versteeg each had a goal and an assist, while Duncan Keith and Marcus Kruger each scored a goal for the Blackhawks, who have won three straight and five of six. Corey Crawford stopped 24 shots in the win.

"I know we've been on the other end of games like this," said Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville. "It's a lot better to be at the other side of this sort of game."

David Perron scored the only goal of the game for the Oilers, who have lost six straight.

"It would be so unfair for our coach to get the blame for this," said Perron. "When we do well he gets none of the credit for it, but when we play like this people want to try and say it's his fault. That's not the case at all."

Ben Scrivens was tagged for five goals on 13 shots in a little over one period of action, while Viktor Fasth stopped 15-of-17 shots in relief.

Toews scored just 3:48 into the game when he backhand in a shot from down low, and it was a 2-0 game less than a minute later as Kruger one-timed the puck home from the left circle for his third of the season.

Chicago made it a 3-0 game with 4:04 to play in the opening on Toews' big blast from the high slot off a feed from Brent Seabrook.

Skating on a 5-on-3, the Blackhawks took a 4-0 lead just 1:16 into the second period as Versteeg slammed home his own rebound from the left side, and Hossa scored another power-play marker at 2:45 when he snapped home a rebound.

Keith scored just over a minute later after Scrivens was pulled, while Perron and Kane exchanged goals in the third period to account for the final score.
