Recap: Edmonton vs. Los Angeles

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Anze Kopitar and Trevor Lewis each tallied a goal and two assists as the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 on Tuesday.

Jeff Carter provided a short-handed marker, Matt Greene also scored and Jonathan Quick made 21 saves for the Kings, who ended a three-game skid.

"It was a big win," said Lewis. "Overall, we played pretty well tonight."

Luke Gazdic and Teddy Purcell each lit the lamp and Ben Scrivens allowed all five goals on 29 shots for Edmonton, which has lost four of its last five games.

"You give any team time and space like that and they're going to shove it down your throat," said Gazdic.

Greene's slap shot from the right point opened the scoring nine minutes into the game.

The Kings went up 2-0 with 59 seconds left in the first period after Lewis finished off a 2-on-1 with Kopitar by wristing a shot over Scrivens' glove.

Carter increased Los Angeles' lead to 3-0 with a short-handed marker just 2:18 into the middle stanza. Tyler Toffoli raced up the right side and fired a host on net that Carter tipped past Scrivens in front.

Edmonton got on the board after Gazdic deflected Jordan Oesterle's point blast with 6:42 left in the second.

Clifford's diving shot in front of the net late in the second made it a 4-1 game and Kopitar struck with a snap shot from the high slot just 26 seconds into the final stanza.

Five minutes later, Purcell shot home a rebound while on the power play to account for the final score.
