Recap: Carolina vs. Minnesota

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Mikael Granlund and Zach Parise scored in a span of less than two minutes early in the third period, enabling Minnesota to exit Carolina with a 3-1 decision on Friday.

Charlie Coyle also tallied and Jason Pominville contributed two assists for the Wild, winners of five straight. Devan Dubnyk came up big once more, making 37 saves, improving to 18-3-1 since joining the club.

Riley Nash provided the lone offense for the Hurricanes, losers of two in a row since winning three straight. Anton Khudobin stopped 16 shots in defeat.

Granlund put the Wild back on top with 4:22 played in the third when he recovered his own blocked shot and fired home from the left circle, then Parise popped home his own rebound to make it 3-1 at 6:18.

The 'Canes comeback was derailed when Eric Staal was booked for boarding with 2:39 to play, and Khudobin wasn't pulled for an extra skater until the final seconds.

Dubnyk made sure that two-goal edge stood up thanks to stopping all 17 shots he faced in the final 20 minutes.

Minnesota picked up the game's first goal at 11 minutes even, as Coyle converted a cross-ice pass from Nino Niederreiter on a wrister from the right circle.

Carolina drew even on Nash's shot from the right wing which beat Dubnyk inside the far post with 4:42 left in the second.
