Recap: Buffalo vs. Carolina

Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Brian Gionta, Johan Larsson and Tyler Ennis each had one goal and an assist in the Buffalo Sabres' 4-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday.

Mikhail Grigorenko also lit the lamp for the Sabres, who snapped a two-game skid. Anders Lindback made 49 saves.

"[Goaltending coach Arturs Irbe has] done a tremendous job and from the first time we'd seen Lindback come in here for the first practice, we didn't know what quite we had," Sabres coach Ted Nolan said. "But slowly, he got better, he got his confidence going.

"I'm a big strong believer that you give anybody confidence and you give them some instruction and direction and they'll get better. Certainly that's happened."

Patrick Dwyer, Alexander Semin and Eric Staal scored for the Hurricanes, who have dropped four of five. Cam Ward stopped 21-of-25 shots.

Trailing 4-0, Carolina scored three goals on Lindback in the final 21:54 of regulation.

Dwyer got around a pair of Buffalo defenders before putting a backhander past Lindback with 1:54 left in the second stanza.

Semin scored 2:31 into the third when kept the puck on a 2-on-1 rush. He deked and slid the puck past Lindback.

Staal cut the gap to one with 5:22 to play when he scored from the slot.

The Hurricanes pulled Ward with two minutes to play, but Lindback made several saves to secure the win.

"They just got under our skin a little bit early," Dwyer said. "We got it fixed, got desperate, turned things around and made it a game."

The Sabres took a 1-0 lead at 5:41 of the first when Grigorenko scored from the high slot.

Gionta gave Buffalo a two-goal edge at 15:03. He stole the puck in the neutral zone and finished a 2-on-1 rush by putting one past Ward.

Larsson gathered a loose puck in the slot and beat Ward at 1:18 of the second.

Ennis scored his 20th goal to make it 4-0 with 3:12 left in the middle frame. Ennis, alone by the left post, took a pass from Larsson and beat Ward.
