Recap: Toronto vs. Buffalo

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyler Bozak netted the tying score late in the contest, then recorded the winning goal in the shootout as Toronto clipped Buffalo, 4-3, at Air Canada Centre.

"I've gone a bunch of times now and my confidence has grown," Bozak said of his wrister which was the lone marker in the breakaway competition for either side. "Things went well early for me so I feel good every time I go. I'm excited to go and want to go every time we get to the shootout."

Brandon Kozun and Leo Komarov also scored for the Maple Leafs, who put a three-game losing streak to rest. Jonathan Bernier came up with 30 saves in regulation and overtime then stopped all three Buffalo shooters.

Tyler Ennis, Matt Moulson and Johan Larsson each picked up a goal and two assists for the Sabres, who have lost five straight. Anders Lindback made 31 saves in defeat.

Larsson's backhander off a broken 2-on-1 rush gave the Sabres a lead less than seven minutes into the contest.

Kozun and Komarov tallied in a span of 21 seconds to put the Leafs on top for the first time, but Ennis struck just 1:32 after the hosts' second score in the bunch for a 2-2 tie.

Moulson gave Buffalo a 3-2 lead with 8:10 to play in the second, redirecting a Larsson feed from the left side.

"I thought we had some jump and some good chemistry tonight," Moulson said. "Larsson and Ennis made some great plays out there. Our jump out there helped us create turnovers and some offense."

Sabres defenseman Mike Weber was sent off for shooting the puck out of play with 4:28 remaining, and Bozak evened the score just over a minute later.

Lindback kept the game going when he robbed Komarov with the glove on a deflection in front with 1:37 to play in overtime.

Game Notes

Moulson has recorded 23 points (15G, 8A) in 23 games vs. the Maple Leafs ... Toronto scratched forward Nazem Kadri and will hold him out for one more contest due to a disciplinary issue ... The Leafs improved to 4-3 in shootouts this season, and the Sabres fell to 7-4.
