Recap: Pittsburgh vs. Detroit

Pittsburgh, PA ( - Teemu Pulkkinen scored twice to lead the Detroit Red Wings in a 5-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday.

Marek Zidlicky posted a goal and two assists, while Riley Sheahan and Henrik Zetterberg also scored once and added a helper for the Red Wings, who were coming off a 7-2 loss at the hands of the Flyers on Saturday.

"We just needed to bounce back. Everybody goes through some adversity," said Detroit head coach Mike Babcock. "We were really dialed in. We had great leadership today. For you to win, for you to fight through adversity, you need good leadership."

Petr Mrazek allowed just one goal on 43 shots for Detroit, which had dropped four of five coming in.

David Perron had the only goal for the Penguins, who have lost three of their last four. Marc-Andre Fleury was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals on 16 shots, while Thomas Greiss stopped 8-of-9 shots in relief.

Pittsburgh forward Evgeni Malkin missed the game because of a lower-body injury suffered in Saturday's game against Boston, but the team did get back Sidney Crosby, who sat out Saturday's game due to illness.

Detroit got on the board 1:21 in when Zidlicky blasted a shot from the high slot that Sheahan tipped in for his 12th of the season.

It was a 2-0 lead for the Red Wings with 1:54 to play in the first on Pulkkinen's one-timer from the top of the left circle.

Skating 5-on-3, the Red Wings took a 3-0 lead 39 seconds into the second on Zidlicky's one-timer from the right circle.

"It was a tough game. We didn't really give ourselves a chance with a tough start," said Crosby. "With penalties and stuff like that, that can't happen this time of year. We have to correct it."

Detroit grabbed a 4-0 lead at 7:44 of the second as Gustav Nyquist skated through the middle and sent a backhand pass to the left side where Zetterberg was parked for the easy tap in.

Pulkkinen scored his second of the game 3:02 into the third when his slapper from the left wing saw him break his stick, but the puck bounced its way in.

Perron broke up Mrazek's shutout bid at 9:10.
