Recap: San Jose vs. Chicago

San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Saad, Bryan Bickell, Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa scored in the third period as Chicago breezed past San Jose by a 6-2 count on Saturday.

Sharp added a first-period marker, Duncan Keith also lit the lamp, while Brent Seabrook and Antoine Vermette added two assists each for the Blackhawks, who have won six of their last eight contests.

Corey Crawford picked up the win thanks to 33 saves.

"(Crawford) has been solid as you'd ever want," said Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville.

Melker Karlsson and Joe Thornton supplied offense for the Sharks, who finished 2-2 on a four-game homestand ahead of a seven-game road trip.

"We played a solid two-period game," said Thornton. "The third goal was a heartbreaker, and the fourth put it out of reach."

Antti Niemi was dented for five goals on 29 shots in defeat.

Saad beat Niemi on a break up the middle with 1:21 played in the third to give the Blackhawks the lead to stay.

Bickell then slipped through a seam of three Sharks down low and one-timed a Brad Richards feed home from the high slot at 4:56 for a 4-2 Chicago lead.

It was 5-2 for the visitors after a right-point blast from Seabrook deflected off Sharp and beat Niemi through an Andrew Shaw screen with 4:50 remaining.

Hossa added an empty-net tally with 2:16 on the clock.

After San Jose had an early power-play goal wiped out, Chicago got on the board with some persistence.

Sharp was turned aside by Niemi at the left side of the crease on a breakaway backhander, but he managed to flip the rebound high and inside the far post from a tight angle at 6:03.

Karlsson tied the game with 3:11 left in the first on a rebound from the high slot.

Keith's power-play shot put the Blackhawks up 2-1 at 8:45 of the second period, but Thornton countered on a Sharks advantage at 12:16.
