Recap: Washington vs. Buffalo

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Andre Burakovsky recorded the lone score of the contest, as the Washington Capitals posted a 1-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres in the exhibition opener for both teams.

Burakovsky's even-strength marker with 6:46 remaining in the opening period was enough offense for a pair of Caps netminders. Braden Holtby finished 19- for-19 and Pheonix Copley turned aside all six he faced.

Nathan Lieuwen was able to stop the other 24 shots for the Sabres.
