Recap: Boston vs. Washington

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Zdeno Chara and Simon Gagne scored late in the third period as Boston topped Washington, 2-0, in preseason action.

Jeremy Smith stopped all 12 shots he faced in the third period to pick up the win. Tuukka Rask started and made seven saves each in the first and second periods.

Braden Holtby made 21 saves through 40 minutes of action for the Capitals. Pheonix Copley allowed Chara's power-play strike with 5:43 left in regulation, and Gagne hit the empty net with four seconds to go.
