Minsk, Belarus (SportsNetwork.com) - Canada rolled past Italy and the United States claimed an overtime win against Kazakhstan in round-robin play Friday at the 2014 World Hockey Championship.

Cody Hodgson continued his hot streak with a pair of goals for Canada in a 6-1 win. He has five goals in the last two games after recording a hat trick in Thursday's 6-1 triumph over Denmark.

Brayden Schenn, Kyle Turris, Jason Chimera and Joel Ward also scored for the Canadians, who have won four straight after an opening-game loss to France. James Reimer made 21 saves in the lopsided victory.

Canada still trails Sweden for first place in the Group A bracket after the Swedes posted a 3-1 victory over Slovakia on Friday behind first-period power- play goals from Gustav Nyquist and Mikael Backlund.

Magnus Nygren also scored for Sweden to help support a 20-save effort from Anders Nilsson.

The U.S. bounced back with a 4-3 win on Friday after suffering consecutive losses to Russia and Latvia. Seth Jones netted the overtime winner and added a second-period goal for the Americans, while Craig Smith and Matt Donovan also scored in the victory.

Tim Thomas stopped 22 shots, including a third-period penalty shot by Konstantin Romanov.

The U.S. remained tied with Finland for third place in Group B following the Fins' 3-2 shootout decision over Switzerland, with Iiro Pakarinen netting the deciding goal in the fifth round of the final phase.

Pekka Rinne stopped 26 shots through overtime prior to turning aside all five Swiss skaters in the shootout, while Tommi Kivisto and Olli Jokinen accounted for Finland's regulation goals.

Switzerland rallied from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime on third-period tallies from Reto Suri and Roman Josi, with Josi's coming with 3:25 remaining in regulation.
