Arlington, VA (Sports Network) - The Washington Capitals have re-signed center Marcus Johansson to a two-year contract worth $4 million.

Johansson, selected by the Capitals with the 24th overall pick of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, will earn $1.825 million for the upcoming season and $2.175 million next year.

The 22-year-old native of Sweden notched six goals and 16 assists for 22 points in 34 games during the shortened 2013 campaign. He was coming off a career-best 2011-12 season, scoring 14 goals with 32 assists for 46 points in 80 games.

In 183 regular-season games, all with Washington, Johansson has 33 goals and 62 assists for 95 points. He has also registered four goals and seven assists in 30 playoff games.
