San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Sharks have placed forward Tommy Wingels on injured reserve because of an upper body injury.

Wingels was hurt during a Dec. 29 game against Anaheim, leaving early in the first period after a collision with Ducks defenseman Mark Fistric.

In 39 games this season, Wingels has nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points.

The Sharks recalled forward Eriah Hayes from their American Hockey League affiliate in Worcester to fill the roster spot.
