Sydney, Australia (Sports Network) - Peter Senior posted an even-par 72 in treacherous conditions Sunday and it was enough to give him the victory at the Australian Open.

Senior, who also won this crown in 1989, finished at 4-under-par 284.

The final round was delayed for three hours as winds peaked near 50 mph and rendered The Lakes Golf Club unplayable.

Senior had a pair of bogeys on his opening nine, but got those strokes back with birdies at 10 and 12. He parred the final six holes to seal the win.

"I really thought these days were over. Golf is such a funny game. One minute you think you are down and the next minute you are up," Senior said. "I did not play particularly well this week, but I got it up and down all week and today was no exception."

Brendan Jones closed with a 71 to take second at minus-3, while Cameron Percy was one stroke further back after posting a 73 in the final round.

World No. 4 Justin Rose stumbled to 4-over 76 on Sunday to slide into a tie for fourth at 1-under 287. He was joined there by Kim Felton (72) and Kieran Pratt (75).

Stuart Appleby (75) shared seventh at even-par 288, Nick O'Hern (72) tied for 10th at plus-1 and Adam Scott (76) was one of four that ended at 2-over 290.

Third-round leader John Senden faltered to a 10-over 82 and tumbled into a tie for 18th at 3-over 291.

Tom Watson, who battled the flu all week, fired the best round of the day before the wind started to howl. The 5-time British Open champion posted a bogey-free, 3-under 69 and jumped nearly 40 places into a share of 28th at plus-5.
