Melbourne, Australia (Sports Network) - Adam Scott closed with his second straight 67 on Sunday to win the Talisker Masters by four strokes.
Scott, who won this event for the first time, finished at 17-under-par 271.
Ian Poulter, who led Scott by one to start the round, finished with an even- par 72 to take second at minus-13 at Kingston Heath.
Gareth Paddison (68) and Mark Brown (69) shared third place at 9-under-par 279. Adam Crawford was alone fifth at minus-6 after a final-round 65.
Scott, who started the week ranked No. 5 in the world, opened with birdies at one and two. He faltered to a bogey at the fourth, but came back with three consecutive birdies from the sixth to soar into the lead at minus-16.
The Australian parred nine in row from the ninth, before closing the win in style with a birdie at the last.
"I've grown up watching the Masters since I was a kid, so this has been somewhat a long time coming and I had some close calls about 10 years ago, so this is pretty sweet today to be in the gold jacket and hold this trophy," Scott said at the trophy presentation.
"It was great playing with Ian the last two days. I jumped on his coattails yesterday he was playing so well, and if I didn't, I was going to get left behind. We kept it up on the front nine today, and I just managed to get him on the back nine."
Poulter, last year's champion, birdied the third, but gave that shot back at the fifth. He converted back-to-back birdie efforts at seven and eight to move to 15-under.
Around the turn, he dropped shots at 12 and 14. Poulter tried to fight back into it with a birdie at the 16th, but he stumbled to a bogey at 17 before making par at the last.
"Scotty and I played some great golf yesterday, and he was too good for me today," Poulter said on TV. "I made a couple of mistakes, but it was great fun."
Graeme McDowell, who made the cut on the number, closed with a 71 to grab a share of eighth place at 2-under 286. Matthew Guyatt, the first- and second- round leader, struggled to a 6-over 78 to fall into a tie for 10th at minus-1.
