Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Tiger Woods cruised to a 7-stroke victory at the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday to increase his lead atop this week's world golf rankings.

Woods essentially sealed the tournament with a magnificent 61 on Friday and he cruised through the weekend to continue his domination of that event. Woods, who claimed his fifth win of the season on Sunday, earned his eighth career victory at Firestone Country Club.

Woods is the only PGA Tour player to win two events at least eight times, having also done so at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

With his 79th PGA Tour win, Woods increased his hold over the No. 1 spot in the rankings by 1.73 average points over British Open winner Phil Mickelson.

The top nine golfers overall stayed the same with Woods and Mickelson again being followed by Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker, Graeme McDowell and Luke Donald.

Keegan Bradley and Henrik Stenson finished in a distant second to Woods this week to jump up to 10th and 11th, respectively. Bradley moved up seven spots and Stenson vaulted eight in the rankings.

That caused a lot of movement behind them as Lee Westwood and Steve Stricker each dropped two spots to Nos. 12 and 13, while Charl Schwartzel and Ernie Els dropped a spot apiece to 14th and 15th.

Louis Oosthuizen plummeted four spots to 16th, Ian Poulter and Sergio Garcia each dropped two places to 17th and 18th, and Bubba Watson fell a place to 19th. Jason Day stayed put to round out the top 20.

Gary Woodland earned his second career win at the PGA Tour's Reno-Tahoe Open to jump 116 spots to 152nd, while Ben Martin also made a big jump in the rankings with his second Web.com Tour title of the year at the Mylan Classic, moving up 69 spots to 161st.
