Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Landon Donovan continued his impressive run in the Gold Cup on Wednesday as he sparked the United States to a 3-1 semifinal win over Honduras with two goals and one assist, leading the Americans to a place in the final.

After tallying a goal and three assists in Sunday's quarterfinal win over El Salvador, Donovan was at it again on Wednesday, setting up Eddie Johnson's opening goal after 11 minutes before scoring midway through the first half to put the U.S. up 2-0 at the break.

Honduras pulled a goal back through Nery Media in the 52nd minute, but Donovan answered one minute later to book a place in Sunday's final against either Mexico or Panama.

As expected, Honduras came out with a defensive approach, but the U.S. found the breakthough after only 11 minutes as Donovan checked back to the ball and then slipped a pass to Johnson, who dashed through on goal and beat goalkeeper Donis Escober.

Alejandro Bedoya took advantage of some tentative defending from Honduras to set up the second goal when he cut in front of a defender to knock the ball to Donovan. He brought it down off his chest inside the penalty area and volleyed the ball past a helpless Escober in the Honduras net.

American goalkeeper Nick Rimando had to do very little in the first half, but Honduras took advantage of a set piece to pull to within a goal in the 52nd minute.

A free kick from the right wing was delivered into the middle of the box, and Media got up in a crowd to turn a header past Rimando.

However, the U.S. responded immediately with Bedoya and Donovan linking up again to restore the two-goal advantage.

Bedoya tracked down a ball played over the top and he got into the area on the right and floated a cross through the face of goal for Donovan to easily finish off with a close-range tap in.

The U.S. easily saw out the rest of the game and will attempt to claim its first Gold Cup title since 2007 on Sunday.
