Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Montreal Impact announced on Wednesday the club has signed Spanish midfielder Gorka Larrea to an undisclosed contract.

Larrea, 30, played 22 games in Spain's La Liga with Real Sociedad from 2003 to 2006, and Levante in 2010. He also played more than 100 games in the Spanish second division with Real Sociedad (2006-2007), Almeria (2007-2008), Levante (2009 to 2011) and CD Numancia (2011 to 2013).

Larrea has also represented Spain at several youth levels, making 15 appearances from the U-16 to U-23 levels.

He was part of the team that won the 2001 UEFA European U-16 Championship, which included striker Fernando Torres, and also helped the Spanish U-23 side win the 2005 Mediterranean Games.

Per MLS policy, details of the contract were not disclosed.
