Harrison, NJ (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Union acquired former striker Sebastien Le Toux from Red Bull New York on Thursday.

Le Toux, 28, had 25 goals and 20 assists in his two seasons for the Union, but was traded to Vancouver Whitecaps FC before the 2012 season. He was later sent to New York, and combined for five goals and two assists last season.

"Sebastien indicated to us at the end of the season that he wanted to return to Philadelphia and we respected his request," said Red Bull Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh.

Le Toux had 14 goals and 11 assists in his first season with Philadelphia in 2010 and had 11 goals and nine assists in 2011. Former Union coach Peter Nowak traded Le Toux to Vancouver for allocation money in January.

"We are happy to welcome Sebastien back to the club," Philadelphia coach John Hackworth said. "His determination and heart are a perfect fit for the mentality of this team."

Philadelphia traded forward Josue Martinez and allocation money to New York to re-acquire Le Toux. The 22-year-old Martinez, who has played 22 matches with Costa Rica, appeared in 18 games last season for Philadelphia.

"We are excited to bring Josue to the Red Bulls. Our staff considers him a young player with potential," Roxburgh said.
