San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - The San Francisco 49ers announced Tuesday they have agreed to terms with linebacker NaVorro Bowman on a five- year contract extension.

"NaVorro epitomizes what we look for in a 49er," general manager Trent Baalke said. "We are excited that the All Pro tandem of (Patrick) Willis and Bowman will be together in red and gold for years to come."

Bowman has spent all three of his NFL seasons with the 49ers since being selected in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

The Penn State product has racked up a team-high 100 tackles, two sacks and one interception through 11 games this season.

For his career, the 24-year-old has compiled 289 tackles, four sacks and three fumble recoveries in 43 games, including 28 starts.

It wasn't all good news for the 49ers on Tuesday, as the team placed running back Kendall Hunter and wide receiver Kyle Williams on season-ending injured reserve.

Hunter sustained a leg injury in Sunday's win over New Orleans, while Williams tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Sunday.

Hunter had rushed for 371 yards and two touchdowns this season. Williams added 14 catches for 212 yards and a score.

San Francisco activated running back Jewel Hampton from the non-football injury list to fill the roster spot vacated by Hunter.
