Myrtle Beach, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jamie Broce carded a 1-under 71 on Tuesday to extend his lead to three strokes at the PGA Professional National Championship.
Broce finished three rounds at 5-under 211.
Michael Block shot an even-par 72 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club to sit alone in second place at 2-under 214, while Dave McNabb (70), David Hronek (72) and Ryan Helminen (74) shared third at minus-1.
Matt Slowinski (72), Stuart Deane (72) and Paul Scaletta (72) are tied for sixth at even-par 216.
Defending champion Rod Perry managed an even-par 72 during his third round and is among a group of six players tied for 12th place at 2-over 218.
Broce opened his round with four straight pars before tripping to a bogey at the fifth. He bounced right back with birdies at the sixth and eighth to make the turn at 5-under.
He later traded a birdie at the 13th with a bogey at the 14th to remain at 5- under and closed his day with four straight pars to maintain his 3-stroke lead heading into the final round.
Block countered bogeys at the first and seventh with birdies at the sixth and 12th during his third round to sit in second place.
There was a secondary cut made on Tuesday to the low 70 scores and ties. The cut line fell at 9-over-par 225, with 77 players advancing to the final round.
