Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving will miss the next four weeks of action after an MRI and CT Scan taken on Monday revealed a hairline/non-displaced fracture in his left index finger.
Irving injured the finger in the third quarter of Saturday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks. He will be treated with taping and a splint to keep it immobilized during the healing process.
He will be reevaluated in two weeks.
Irving, the 2012 NBA Rookie of the Year, is averaging 22.9 points, 5.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds per contest this season.
In other team news, guard Daniel Gibson suffered a right elbow contusion against Dallas, but is fully cleared to play, while forward Tristan Thompson suffered a nasal contusion in the second quarter of Sunday's loss in Philadelphia.
An X-Ray taken Monday showed a nasal fracture. Thompson will wear a protective mask and is expected to play on Wednesday against Philadelphia.
