Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - The Indianapolis Colts have informed wide receiver Austin Collie that his contract will not be renewed, the team said Saturday.

"Austin was a warrior and an inspiration for the franchise and Colts fans around the world," said Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay. "He was a great player for us and a superstar for our community, and will always be a part of the Colts family."

The announcement comes just one day after the team decided to part ways with defensive end Dwight Freeney.

Collie was selected by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2009 draft. The BYU product had a strong rookie season with 60 catches for 676 yards and seven touchdowns. He helped Indianapolis reach the Super Bowl that year.

The 27-year-old Collie was limited to nine games in 2010 due to a pair of concussions. He ended the year with 58 catches for 649 yards and eight touchdowns.

Despite playing in all 16 games the following season, Collie's production dropped. He caught 54 passes for 514 yards and just one touchdown.

During a 2012 preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Collie suffered the third concussion of his career. In the third game of the regular season, Collie suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee, causing him to miss the rest of the season.
