Irving, TX (Sports Network) - Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Price- Brent was arrested early Saturday morning on intoxication manslaughter charges involving a car accident that killed teammate Jerry Brown.

According to the Irving Police Department, Brent, 24, a resident of Irving, was driving on Highway 114 at around 2:20 a.m. at a high rate of speed when the vehicle hit the outside curb causing it to flip at least one time before coming to rest in the middle of the service road.

Price-Brent was identified as the driver and was contacted by police officers, but Brown was unresponsive and was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He was 25.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of this accident and the passing of Jerry Brown," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry's family and all of those who knew him and loved him."

According to the police report, officers at the scene believed alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash. Based on field sobriety tests, Price-Brent was arrested for driving while intoxicated and was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw. He was booked into the Irving City Jail on a count of intoxication manslaughter.

Brown, a former defensive lineman at Illinois, was listed as a linebacker on the Cowboys practice squad this season.

Price-Brent was expected to start in Cincinnati on Sunday because Jay Ratliff is battling injuries. Price-Brent, who has started five games this season, was jailed for misdemeanor DUI while a student-athlete at Illinois.
