Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks signed infielder Aaron Hill to a three-year contract extension on Friday.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the new deal will take Hill through the 2016 season.

Hill became the first Arizona infielder to earn a Silver Slugger Award in 2012, hitting a career-high .302 with 44 doubles, 26 home runs and 85 RBI in 156 games.

In addition to setting career highs in slugging percentage (.552), OPS (.882) and extra-base hits (76), Hill hit for a pair of cycles.

The 30-year-old Hill was acquired from the Blue Jays on Aug. 23, 2011. He also won a Silver Slugger Award with Toronto in 2009, when he batted .286 while setting career highs with 36 homers and 108 RBI.

In 1,064 career games with Toronto (2005-11) and Arizona (2011-12), Hill has hit .272 with 244 doubles, 124 home runs and 510 RBI.
