East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Giants named Ben McAdoo as their new offensive coordinator on Tuesday, hiring the former Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach to replace the retired Kevin Gilbride.

McAdoo, 36, spent eight seasons with the Packers, the first six as tight ends coach and the past two leading the quarterbacks.

In McAdoo's first season as quarterbacks coach in 2012, Aaron Rodgers led the NFL in passer rating and was named the NFC's starter for the Pro Bowl.

"I think this is the best coach for the job," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said, according to the team's website. "With his experiences, I think he brings a lot to the table. Our players are going to be exited to hear what he has to say."

Gilbride announced his retirement on Jan. 2 after seven seasons as the Giants' offensive coordinator.
