Jacksonville, FL (Sports Network) - The Jacksonville Jaguars announced the release of three players, including offensive tackle Guy Whimper, on Wednesday.

Whimper started 15 times, primarily at right tackle, for the Jaguars in 2011 and opened six games while participating in all 16 contests last season. He also caught a 1-yard touchdown pass as an eligible receiver in a loss at Green Bay back in October.

The 29-year-old signed with the Jaguars in 2010 after being waived by the New York Giants, the team for which Whimper spent the first four seasons of his seven-year career.

The Jaguars also waived quarterback John Parker Wilson and cornerback Brandon King, both of whom ended last season on the club's practice squad.
