Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays placed pitcher Josh Johnson on the 15-day disabled list Thursday as the offseason acquisition continues to deal with an injury to his right arm.

Johnson was scratched from a scheduled start last Friday due to inflammation in his right triceps, with the team initially hoping the two-time All-Star would miss only one turn in the rotation.

The move was made retroactive to April 29.

Johnson, one of five major league players acquired from the Miami Marlins in a blockbuster trade back in November, had gone 0-1 with a 6.86 earned run average through his first four starts with Toronto. The right-hander had allowed 28 hits in 19 2/3 innings of work.

To fill the rotation spot, the Blue Jays announced that Ricky Romero will be recalled from Single-A Dunedin to start Friday's game against Seattle.

Romero, Toronto's Opening Day starter in each of the previous two seasons, was shipped to the minors to begin the 2013 campaign after experiencing control problems during spring training. The left-hander walked an American League- high 105 batters while posting a disappointing 9-14 record with a 5.77 ERA last year.

The former first-round pick did not issue a walk in his lone outing for Dunedin, however, while yielding just one run over seven innings this past Saturday.

Toronto also recalled Brad Lincoln from Triple-A Buffalo, with the reliever available to pitch in Thursday's matchup against Boston.
