New York, NY (Sports Network) - Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace was suspended one game by the NBA on Tuesday for an incident with Detroit's Brandon Knight on Sunday at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

World Peace grabbed Knight around the neck and struck him in the jaw late in the first half of LA's 98-97 win. World Peace was assessed a flagrant foul.

The suspension, which comes without pay, will force World Peace out of Tuesday's game against Brooklyn.

World Peace was suspended for seven games late last season after delivering an elbow to the head of then-Thunder guard James Harden.

The former Ron Artest had his most infamous moment at the Palace of Auburn Hills in November 2004 while playing for the Pacers. He went into the stands to attack a fan after being struck by a beverage while players scrapped on the court.

An 86-game suspension was the result.

In 48 games this season, World Peace is averaging 13.2 points and 5.7 rebounds.
