Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - The Washington Nationals have avoided arbitration with shortstop Ian Desmond, outfielder Roger Bernadina and pitchers Drew Storen, Ross Detwiler, Craig Stammen and Tyler Clippard.

All six players agreed to terms on one-year contracts on Friday.

Desmond had a breakout year in 2012, posting career-bests in batting average (.292), home runs (25) and RBI (73) while appearing in 130 games for the Nationals.

Bernadina batted .291 with five homers and 25 RBI in 129 games last season, his fifth with the Nationals.

Clippard thrived in the closer's role in 2012, racking up 32 saves along with a 2-6 record and a 3.72 earned run average in 74 games.

Storen saved 43 games for Washington in 2011, then went 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA in 37 games last season. Stammen posted a 6-1 mark with a 2.34 ERA in 59 games, all in relief.

Detwiler made 27 starts last season and appeared in 33 games overall, compiling a 10-8 record with a 3.40 ERA.
