Washington, DC ( - Three prominent Washington Nationals players had successful surgeries during the past week, the team's official website reported Saturday.

Ace pitcher Stephen Strasburg had an arthroscopic procedure to remove bone chips from his right elbow Friday in Los Angeles, while young slugger Bryce Harper had the bursa sac in his left knee repaired Wednesday in Vail, Colo.

Additionally, first baseman Adam LaRoche had surgery to take out loose bodies from his left elbow Wednesday in Washington.

All three are expected to be ready for spring training.

Harper battled knee soreness for much of his sophomore campaign in 2013, which limited the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year to just 118 games. The 21- year-old outfielder, who initially hurt himself while colliding into the right-field wall at Dodger Stadium in May, is slated to resume working out in 4-to-6 weeks.

LaRoche did play in 152 games last season, but batted a disappointing .237 with 20 home runs and 62 RBI. The veteran belted a career-best 33 homers and drove in 100 runs while hitting .271 during the Nationals' march to the NL East title the previous year.

Strasburg is coming off a season in which he set career bests with 30 starts and 183 innings pitched. The 2010 No. 1 overall pick finished with just an 8-9 record, but posted a 3.00 earned run average and struck out 191 batters.
