Brooklyn, NY (Sports Network) - Brooklyn Nets forward Gerald Wallace will sit out Monday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves due a sprained left ankle he sustained in the team's 2012-13 opener.

Wallace suffered the injury during the late stages of Saturday's 107-100 victory over Toronto at the Barclays Center, the Nets' first regular-season contest since moving to Brooklyn from New Jersey. He recorded 10 points, six rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes in the win.

The 30-year-old was re-signed by the Nets to a four-year, $40 million contract in July and averaged 15.2 points and 6.8 rebounds in 16 games with the team last season. Wallace was initially acquired by the Nets in a trade with Portland on March 15, with the team sending center Mehmet Okur and forward Shawne Williams to the Trail Blazers.

With backup Josh Childress also still sidelined with a sore left ankle, journeyman Keith Bogans will draw the start at small forward against the Timberwolves.
