Lincoln, NE (Sports Network) - New England Patriots defensive back Alfonzo Dennard was found guilty of third-degree assault against a police officer, a felony, and resisting arrest, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.

The charges stem from an incident last April outside a bar in Lincoln, just days before the NFL Draft. Dennard, who starred at Nebraska, was acquitted of assaulting another man.

Dennard faces up to six years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for April 11.

The Patriots selected Dennard in the seventh round. As a rookie, Dennard registered 35 tackles and three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, while starting seven of the 10 regular-season games he played. He also appeared in both of New England's playoff games.
