Foxboro, MA (Sports Network) - The New England Patriots placed wide receiver Julian Edelman on injured reserve Tuesday with a foot injury.

Edelman suffered the injury in Sunday's division-clinching win over the Miami Dolphins.

A fixture on special teams, Edelman returned 17 punts for 263 yards and one touchdown. Edelman, who caught 21 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns, also returned a fumble on a kickoff for a score.

The Patriots filled the roster spot by re-signing veteran wideout Donte' Stallworth.

The 32-year-old Stallworth attended training camp with New England but was released on Aug. 27.

Stallworth spent the 2007 season with the Patriots, registering 46 receptions for 697 yards and three touchdowns.

The Patriots also released offensive lineman Mitch Petrus and signed offensive linemen Tommie Draheim and Colin Miller to the practice squad.
