Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds avoided arbitration with their new acquisition, Shin-Soo Choo, by agreeing to a one-year contract with the outfielder on Monday.

Choo was acquired from the Cleveland Indians in a three-team deal this past offseason. He is coming off a solid 2012 campaign in which he hit 16 homers and drove in 67 runs while batting .283 over 155 games. He also stole 21 bases.

In eight major league seasons, the 30-year-old has amassed 83 homers, 373 RBI and 85 stolen bases with a .289 batting average over 699 career games.

The Reds also agreed with right-handed pitcher Clay Hensley on a minor league deal, which includes an invite to spring training.

The 33-year-old Hensley pitched out of the bullpen for the San Francisco Giants last season, appearing in 60 games to finish with a 4-5 record and a 4.62 ERA over 50 2/3 innings pitched.
