What Are You MOST Concerned About In A Health Care Bill?

It is a "category of concern", at least in the House bill that was PASSED. It is no longer just proposed, it was passed with the provision for required end of life counseling. It has been taken out of the proposed Senate bill (after much protest). Anyone who has read BOTH bills knows this. Maybe YOU should re-read both bills.

End of life cousneling? You mean like hospice care? OH NO! Whatever shall we do?

Have YOU read the bill passed (not proposed, passed) by the House of Representatives. The category that you refer to has been removed from the proposed Senate bill, but it is still in the House bill as passed. YOU had better do some reading yourself.

From professional experience I can tell you, insurance companies do not care about your well being. They care about appearing to care. Meanwhile they skim larger profits from our hard work by exploiting our lack of public healthcare and using scare tactics to ensure everybody who gets a paycheck is "covered".

Americans recognize that fires are a social burden that anyone can be the victim of and the need to fund fire departments is not questioned. Why is public healthcare not recognized as something that is good for us all, the same as a public school system and public mail and public fire departments?

There is evidence insurance companies and those who profit from the status quo have invested money (lobbyists) to cover ground in government and are prepared to exert pressure on anyone who opposes them.

We can't imagine a system which does not continually demand more and more and give less and less because to us, it has always been this way. It will continue to be this way unless each one of us takes a stand at some point in a concerted effort to say:

- "I don't want to be broke if I get sick"
- "I don't want to go to jail because I don't have the money for an emergency room visit"
- "I don't want insurance, I want HEALTH CARE."

I did the same as you, Ray, got an education (I'm an engineer), carefully chose my jobs, and paid for my benefits. When I became seriously ill from occupational lead poisoning, I thought that I was covered with workers comp and the long term disability that I had paid for. Guess what, Ray? When you need these programs...they aren't there for you. You know why? Because there isn't ENOUGH government intervention. UnumProvident does pretty much what they want and the corporations pretty much control whether or not you collect workers comp. I became permanently disabled and had to fight for years for any benefits that I have received.

So, I've got news for you, Ray. When you need those benefits the most...those benefits that you have paid for...you won't get them and then you will be wanting that free healthcare. Also, you already pay for those uninsured people through your benefits at work. All healthcare companies charge those who are paying almost a $1000/year to cover those who don't have insurance. In other words, Ray, you are already subsidizing free healthcare.

BTW, I now have Medicare which I am totally satisfied with except for how so called free enterprise i.e., letting all insurance companies get in on the Medicare bandwagon, caused our premiums to go up. I can say it is at least one government program that those who have it, don't want to see it messed with. The government can do some things right.

And those other things. The bank bailout WAS NOT an Obama plan. It was put in place by the Bush administration. As was the subsidizing of sub prime mortgages. Republicans AND Democrats sponsored the Cash for Clunkers bill. THIS IS NOT THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATIONS "FAULT." It this kind of pointing the finger that does our country no good. We must, as Americans, work toward solutions. Making rash statements and casting blame will not get us anywhere.

And, quiet frankly, Ray, I don't believe that God will help us at all. It is up to each of us to help ourselves and others.

Obama is trying to straighten out the mess that George Bush made. American let him get away with raping this country, thats why WE NEED GODS HELP!!! OUR LAST PRESIDENT RAPED YOUR POCKETS OVER AND OVER!!! Bush went from millionaire to elite billionaire in just eight years and didnt even have to sell Amway products! He went way past diamond if you know what I mean. AND YES GOD PLEASE HELP US! BUSH RAPED US! AS BAD AS BUSH TREATED US TAX PAYERS I AM SCARRED FOR LIFE AND ALL AMERICA SAT BACK AND WATCHED! Hey Ray, your TV and your computer are powered by electricity. The power comes, for many people in this region, from TVA. And, pay attention to this Ray, TVA IS A GOVERNMENT PROGRAM.

1. Your good government between 1945 and 1967 stood over 200,000 people out in deserts and on islands to explode atomic bombs near them just so they could study them or their bodies.

2. Five stories underground in Chicago at the Museum of Science and Industry there is a Hotes designed to protect and serve local Politicians in case of a nuclear attack. was finally closed several years after the cold war.

3. In Chicago your gov't put non lethal germs in the water supply of an 8 block area just so they could see how many people got sick.

4. Have you forgotten Ms. Prizzy's Boys?? The black men that your gov't infected with Syphillis and gave them sugar pills for treatment just so they could see what happens to someone infected.

Ray, there is some people wanting things for free, I'm not one of them I would love to be able to buy health insurance, they don't let people that have pre- existing promblems buy insurance beleive me I've tried. My sister a widow worked for years the place she worked shut down, right before she was diagnoised with a rare cancer , she pay's over $700.00 a mth cobra cannot get tencare because she draws too much , although the ones that can get tencare are ones that set home on their behind smoking their cigarettes and going to doctors getting their drugs to sell,but people that are really sick can't get help , she does'nt want a hand out neither do I I think we all should pay for health insurance , we also should be able to buy insurance not have our cancer or sickness held against us so insurance companies can pay their CEO 20 -70 million a year, agents $300,000.Insurances companies have got away with disrimination long enough!And as far as Obama ,BUSH and his high dollar republicans and the GREEDY insurance companies had already bankrupt this country , Obama is trying to clean up the BUSH MESS.

Actually, the Social Security COLA was put into place in 1973. It is calculated in conjunction with the Consumer Price Index. If there is an increase in the CPI then there is an increase in SS benefits. Fortunately, if the CPI loses ground, SS benefits don't decrease. As you can see, the method used was put into place 35 years before Obama became president.

You know, you could encourage your representative in Congress...Democrat or Republican...to do something about it. If you don't, then SHAME, SHAME ON YOU!

You republicans must be walking around with blinders on , why do you think there is less and less of you now,because of all the harm you've done people cannot stomach it anymore , you care about nothing but yourselves and who you can keep in your pockets , I've got news for you and your big companies you've supported over the years ,instead of the people! I have no problem with his being black. This country is full of many, many quality, productive and valuable citizens who happen to be born with black skin. Just like the many with white, brown, red or whatever color skin. All of them are priceless. My problem with Obama is that he is GREEN, in more ways than one.

The elderly & disabled (those on Social Security) may have been productive in the past, but today is what counts. Cut medical care and freeze benefits and these "drains" on society will croak faster and leave more for those who really deserve it. The ones who are already in lock-step and dependent on the government will be rewarded for being good little sheep.

I sure am glad you do not have your finger on any nuclear buttons or cardio machines.
