I've forwarded this link to many of my friends around the country so they could see a slice of what it's like living around here. It's not often you get such a clear example of the locals attitudes, it's pretty unbelievable and I bet unfortunately domenstrative of the attitiudes of much of the other 46%.

I want to agree to this. We are white and my husband has ben out of work since March. We have never qualified to recieve any assitant to helping pay our utilities. When we call an agency and ask for help they usually tell us that . The money is gone already. I knew a black girl age of 18 who had five kids. Me and her had a long conversation on this very issue. She told me she could not get her fixed until she was at least 22. Even after five kids. She pays 85 mnth for her rent and all she has to do is work 20 hours a week. Her childcare is taken care of . Her housing is taken care of one of those new ones down off of highland park. I told her about my experience with the system and she was shocked . She said when she walks into a govermet agency they are pushing for her to get on this prgram or that program. That changes when your white because you have to prove to them you are poor. I have even had one ask me one time can your mom not pay your bills. This area is getting more racist than ever towards whites. Now we have a black president they think they are high and mighty becasue they have one of thier kind in office. I hate to tell you this black, hispanica any color. The president doesn't akways make the laws alot of time it is congress. Those are the guys you need to be sucking up to. Obama is jsut a scape goat for what congress is trying to do,

Life would be much easier if the media would just report all the facts. What I think is being missed is what happened prior to Obama's speech. While he is correct in saying there is a provision that says no benefits would be given to anyone in this country illegally, he is misleading that this would be enforced. Now how could I possibly contradict myself this way? Easy. Leading up to the current bill for health care reform, the Ways and Means commitee removed TWO provisions that would require anyone seeking benefits to show proof of citizenship. Hence the remark "You lie!"
According to the Ways and Means commitee, proving you are a citizen in good standing is not fair. I would ask anyone, how is proving you are a citizen of this country to recieve ANY benefit that comes as a cost to the tax payer unfair? Otherwise, the abuses you cited will continue, just under a new system.

So far all he has done is give away HUGE amounts of money away to banks and corporations and foreign countries ie: cash for clunkers, 750Billion to banks. Thank you my brother. I recently moved here to the South and am appalled at all the racism that rears its ugly head here. Im from the southwest and grew up with people of all races. It appears to me that here the Civil War has not ended for these people. I have seen more rebel flags and signs, license plates, etc. proclaiming the "South Will Rise Again". Rise to WHAT? These backwoods bigots out here need to look into their hearts and see the damage they are causing to children. We were not born to hate. It is learned from people who spread lies and confusion. What rock did you crawl out from when you moved South? Racism is more abundant in other parts of the United States. Ever heard of South Central L.A.? How about Chicago? I do, however, have objections to one (or any President,for that matter) who wants to increase Government's intrusion into the lives of the citizens in the ways Obama does. Yet, your current President has befuddled you into thinking he is bring troops home (from Iraq), when he is just rearranging them (into Afghanistan), and now plans to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan. I want a President whose ideology is that government should 'provide for the common defense' of its' people, insure them equal opportunity under the law and then get out of the way and let people fend for themselves. I didn't vote for Obama. I can't understand why anyone would. His name alone speaks volumes. I watched a speech given by him on labor day. Let me tell you it was obvious that he was speaking to a majority black audience that day. He was loud and bold and his mannerisms were very (black). Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about. Then at his next speech he was quiet and conservative again. (white) At least president Bush was consistently the same all the time. It may not have been what all americans wanted or needed, but he was who he was. He had the balls to be himself all the time. I did vote for Obama simply because he was at least acting like a president instead of just somebody desperate to take over the world. And regarding his middle name, I am very sure looking at about the time he was born, there was a King Hussein of Jordan who was making good with the United States at that time, no one cared about Saddam. I would say King Hussein is probably who he was named after. And he is more like John F. Kennedy than the previous president will ever be.

The sitting while the other side gives standing ovation, the shuffling of feet and even the occasional booing (which I do agree goes a little too far) are all accepted forms of expression during these Presidential addresses to joint sessions of Congress. An individual in the audience loudly voicing a personal attack on a President is unprecedented and is a new low. There is NO comparison to booing (which the Republicans did plenty of during THIS speech, and nobody has complained about) and what Rep. Wilson did which is reprehensible.

The other new lows that Republicans reached during this speech were blatantly focusing on their Blackberry the entire time and holding protest signs and waving their signs and their other printed paraphernalia in the air.
