Bouffant Salon gets fresh start after over 60 years in business
DUNLAP, Tenn. (WDEF) — For decades, Bouffant Salon has been a nostalgic stop in Dunlap for haircuts, styles, and conversation.
Now after 65 years on Walnut Street, the salon has moved to a new home on 97 St. Clair Drive.
Owner Anna Faye Heard first opened the shop as a teenager, and today at 83 years old, she’s still doing what she loves.
“That was history. I just started immediately when I was [17] out of school and of course I was 18 when I graduated state college, so and then I was 18 and when I got through, so I bought the business and been in it ever since,” Heard said.
The new location offers more space and new amenities for the stylists and their clients.
Erika Greer, stylist and daughter of Heard said, “We all have our own space which I think is really cool because each room is decorated individually — so we are a great team, a wonderful group of people. We really enjoy each other and work well together.”
Many longtime clients stopped by to see the new space and support a business that has been a part of the small town for generations.

Heard’s daughter said seeing her mother continue to do what she loves after all these years makes the new chapter even more meaningful:
“She just looks at everything from a Christian outlook and serves everyone well and so that was been a great thing for me to watch growing up,” Greer said.
Anna Faye says she couldn’t be happier to start this next chapter with her little ladies.
“It’s just been so exciting… you can see for yourself… you can just look out windows and see the outside. Monday, I went out out on our patio — and just the sun you know — and we just got everything here that anybody would want,” Heard said.
The stylists are excited to offer a variety of services from shampoo sets to hair extensions. Their multigenerational perspective sets the salon apart from others in the area.
Anna Faye is the eldest at 83 and Aspen is the youngest at 19!
