Chattanooga officer arrested for domestic assault

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A Chattanooga patrol officer has been arrested for domestic assault in Collegedale.

Officials with the Collegedale police department have confirmed that 26 year old Christopher Stephen Day was taken into custody on Saturday.

Day was arrested after his wife told police he put his hand on her throat and swung their child around in a car seat during a heated argument.

Elisa Myzal with the Chattanooga Police Department says Day has been relieved of duty pending the investigation.

He has been with the department since April 2015.
