UT student brings muskets to dorm, gets arrested

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — Police arrested a teenager on Saturday for bringing musket rifles to a college dorm.

WVLT News obtained a police report, stating that Brandon Dowd brought two musket rifles to a dorm at the University of Tennessee.

The report stated that staff members told officers they saw a man walking into the hall with what appeared to be a musket.

Officers then identified Dowd through video surveillance. The 19-year-old told officers the musket was in his dorm room.

Police found two musket rifles, black powder, primers and two bayonets.

The report said that officers then arrested Dowd. They charged him with carrying a weapon on school property.
