1 teenager killed, 1 seriously hurt in Pickens County crash

ALICEVILLE, Ala. (AP) — A Pickens County teenager has been killed and another has been seriously injured after their car left the roadway, struck a culvert and crashed into several trees.

Senior Trooper Reginald King tells news outlets that 17-year-old Willie Xavier Davis of Carrollton wasn’t wearing his seat belt on Friday night when he crashed and was thrown from the car about five miles north of Aliceville. He died at the scene.

Authorities say 16-year-old passenger Deonte Taylor was also thrown from the car and was seriously injured.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
