Firefighters save most of home and neighbors in St. Elmo
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – It may have looked hopeless when firefighters arrived, but they were able to save most of the home.
The fire broke out at a house at 4118 St. Elmo Avenue around 8:30 Monday night.
The front of the house was on fire and it was spreading to the attic when the firefighters arrived.
Still, crews fought their way inside and saved about two thirds of the building.
Investigators say the fire started on the front porch, but they haven’t figured out the cause yet.
The video of the fire came from the homeowner.
He was the first to spot the fire when he returned home from work and got his family out in time.
