12 pounds of meth confiscated in two arrests in northeast Alabama
FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – Authorities in northeast Alabama say they seized more than 12 pounds of meth over the weekend in a couple of busts.
It started with a traffic stop in Rainsville on Saturday.
DeKalb deputies say a K-9 unit alerted to drugs in the vehicle driven by 70 year old William Ray Hughes.
Based on that arrest, they raided his home in Fyffe.
The sheriff says they found another pound of meth, 300 grams of marijuana and cash.
They arrested 42 year old Thomas Eearl Wadsworth at the house.
Both men were charged with trafficking.
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “I deeply appreciate everyone involved in this arrest. So many lives would have been ruined with this poison continuously on the streets and lives could have possibly been lost if not for the meticulous attention to detail, and for that I thank you all.”
