12 year old charged with armed robbery of a 7 year old

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) – Police in Athens arrested a 12-year-old boy they say shot a 7-year-old boy with a BB gun.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports that on Monday the older boy told the 7-year-old and another boy he would shoot them if they didn’t empty their pockets. Police said he then shot the 7-year-old in the foot.

Police say the BB went through the 7-year-old’s shoe and caused his foot to bleed. He was taken to a hospital to check whether the BB was stuck in his foot.

The 12-year-old faces an armed robbery charge. He was taken to a youth detention center in Gainesville.
