DEKALB COUNTY — A multi-agency response led to the arrest of a local man following a shooting incident on June 28, 2026 in Fyffe, Alabama.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Caleb Andrew Ashley, faces multiple felony charges, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO).

They say DeKalb County 911 initially received a call from an adult male stating that another male subject had shot at him.

Officers from the Fyffe Police Department, the Rainsville Police Department, and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the address provided. Upon arrival, officers discovered that both the victim and the suspect had already left the scene.

The victim had traveled to a nearby restaurant to safely await the arrival of law enforcement. They say the whereabouts of the suspect were initially unknown, prompting agencies to issue a “Be on the Lookout” (BOLO) alert for his vehicle.

DeKalb County Investigators arrived to process the scene and collect evidence.

The DCSO says preliminary findings indicate that multiple rounds of gunfire struck the victim’s vehicle while he was inside, and at least one round struck a window of a nearby gas station which also had occupants inside.

Investigators determined that the victim and the suspect were acquainted through previous relationships with the same female acquaintance.

While the scene was being processed by investigators, Ashley chose to return to the scene to speak with law enforcement.

After giving his statement and further consultation with the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office, Ashley was taken into custody and charged with Shooting into an occupied vehicle (X3) and Shooting into an occupied building.

There were no injuries reported and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
