19-year-old charged with felony possession of marijuana
COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. (WDEF) — Collegedale Police arrested a 19-year-old man for a felony possession of marijuana. They previously arrested him with the same charge in December 2022.
Gabriel Kain Goins was driving a 2011 black Dodge Charger on Mulberry Street in Collegedale, police said. Officers stopped the man for driving with his high beams on. They said this was affecting other drivers, including the officers.
The officer said he smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle when he got behind Goins.
Collegedale Police said once the officer stopped Goins, he confirmed the odor was coming from the vehicle.
The officer said he ordered the man to get out of his car. At this time, police said Goins stuck something in his waistband. He admitted it was marijuana and handed it to the officer.
Police then searched the vehicle. There were seven vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana in the car, police said. They said they also found hundreds of dollars in cash.
Collegedale Police said Goins is an Ooltewah resident. He is currently out on $30,000 bond. Police said his court date is March 22.
Collegedale Officers previously arrested Goins in the same part of town. This happened during a traffic stop on December 14, 2022. Police said he was charged with a felony possession of marijuana in December as well.
