1st Year is the Charm at Dalton State

Dalton, GA (WDEF) – Dalton Georgia is a city of champions.

Tuesday night, the Dalton State Roadrunners won the NAIA championship game in Kansas City by 71-53.

This is only the second year since the college re-instated basketball after discontinuing the program in the 1980s.

And this was their first team that was eligible for the title.

Coach Tony Ingle was pretty happy about it immediately after the victory.

"I would hug an IRS man right now."

Fans are expected to greet the returning champions tonight on campus as the bus returns from Kansas City sometime around 7PM.

The city will hold a parade in their honor on Friday evening.

You can find plenty of reaction to the big winning at the Dalton Daily Citizen.

Beep, Beep, indeed.
